Cape Market grew from a simple idea: give neighbors and visitors a place to come together and celebrate what makes North Cape May special.
Our vision is a welcoming gathering across generations—somewhere to meet the people behind local businesses, discover the stories and natural beauty of the bay, and spend time together.
We hope to create a tradition that supports local livelihoods and invites residents and visitors to feel part of the community.
Meet Shaina Hilsey
Founder of Cape Market
Shaina has spent much of her life visiting North Cape May. Her parents now call it home year-round, and in 2025 she and her husband, Tim, were married in Cape May.
Those family ties inspired her to create something for the community: a gathering where longtime residents, seasonal visitors, and local businesses can get to know one another.
Shaina is a consultant specializing in strategy, operations, and stakeholder engagement, and a former public servant. With Cape Market, she’s bringing that experience to a project close to her heart—celebrating the people, history, culture, and coastal landscape that make this area special.
